CHRISTMAS CATS FOR VH1 SAVE THE MUSIC ARRIVE
I ordered several copies of THE SECRET ADVENTURES OF LOUIE V to give for Christmas gifts. The box arrived on my doorstep. I was so surprised when I opened the box to be greeted by all these Cats. What a sight. All those LOUIE's faces starring at me and ready to pounce. Of course they were not real, just the wonderful stuffed cats that are available on LOUIE'S Site The author, Tracey Delio knew what would be the perfect compliment for my Christmas gift.
Part of Louie's proceeds go to VH1 Save the Music and VH1 Autism Partners, Autism Speaks

I smell Gingerbread
Yes,
It is that wonderful smell. A scent that sends you back to those past holidays with an oven full of gingerbread.
Put on those comfortable booties,
pour a cup of hot chocolate and bite into that gingerbread man with no guilt.
Check out these fun gingerbread links as you nibble.
Remember Paul Galdone's forever wonderful story of The Gingerbread Boy and trim Jan Brett's Gingerbread Baby House while reading her new book, Gingerbread Friends. You can find more links to gingerbread fun on Author

Kim Robinson's new book "A Christmas Rhapsody" has been released by Kicks Club Books and is now available. This special Christmas story, seen through the eyes of furry friends, angels and shepherds as they sing in celebration, was such a joy to illustrate. Kim has such a wonderful way and grace with her words and I was so pleased when she asked me to work on another book for early spring. Please check out Kicks Club Books for more information.

New Release of The Secret Adventures of Louie V
The Secret Adventures of Louie V by Tracey Delio will be out in a few weeks and I can hardly wait. Tracey sent me her wonderful manuscript about the life of her siamese cat, Louie V., back in April. How could I refuse such great visual possibilities of this independent feline and how he spends his day. Ms. Delio's story is a treat for readers. Here are a few teasers as you wait for Louie's Book.
Here is a spread from pages 16 and 17 as we begin laying out the story.
We also played with his taste in fashion.

Interview with writer Cindy Reeg
Why do you write for children?
I love to share my love of words with children. I love to see them excited about reading and all the worlds that it opens up for them.
Where do you find your ideas?
So many people ask me that question, and I always answer them, "Everywhere!" I try to be observant of people and things all around me--especially in nature. Then when I brainstorm for ideas, I have a whole storehouse of information to choose from. And I just put the ideas together in a new way--like mixing up a new recipe.
In my latestest book, DOGGIE DAY CAMP:VERB AND ADVERB ADVENTURES, I got the idea for the day camp from the visits my own dog Holly loved to do at the kennel. The big difference between Holly and Bubba, the dog in the book, is that Holly was never worried. She is always excited to do day camp. And the name "Bubba" comes from a dog in our neighborhood. He doesn't look anything like Bubba in the book. He's black and white--a Boston terrier, I believe. But I just loved that name for a dog, so I borrowed it. Dogs and action words (verbs) seemed to go together perfectly. Dogs are almost always on the move. So that's an example of how I mix-up a book recipe.
Do you have any suggestions for new writers?
Read, read, read the type of books that you want to write. This will provide a new writer with examples of how to create characters and plots and how to use words. A writer needs to feel the words, to put them together like a musician creating a symphony. And a new writer needs to understand that good writing requires lots of rewriting. This is really one of my favorite parts--rewriting. I love to polish and make a piece shine. When I read it and get that "ahhhh" feeling, then I know it's really finished.
